Overview

Ever wonder what happened on this day in history? Want to be more knowledgeable in general? Be “that guy” at a party? Just bored? Then this app is for you!

Implementation

Here, I made use of the free Wikipedia “On this day” API to create a basic Tkinter application. The way you set it up, once loaded, is fairly straightforward:

• Provide a month (MM format)
• Provide a day (DD format)
• Choose the API endpoint you want to look at (events, holiday births, deaths)
• That’s it!

Using Pandas Table, the data is then displayed in a new window/table.
